The Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a consortium of just over 30 mobile industry leaders, was created to overcome barriers in creating truly innovative mobile devices, applications and services by offering a completely open and free mobile platform, Android, to the industry-at-large. The sole MIDI audio solution in the OHA and Android Platform, SONiVOX audioINSIDE is an advanced, device-hardened audio synthesis solution with high quality MIDI audio capabilities used primarily to create interactive mobile gaming applications.

SONiVOX will continue to support the Android platform through the OHA as well as provide custom integration, feature enhancement and wavetable design services to SONiVOX clients.

Interactive Music Playback in Games via JET

One component of the SONiVOX audioINSIDE solution is JET , an interactive music engine for mobile devices. With JET, developers can create compelling Java based mobile games with synchronized music, graphics and game play, getting around today's vexing industry problems of poor JSR support and porting to multiple handsets.

The SONiVOX audioINSIDE solution includes a full featured wavetable MIDI synthesizer and matched General MIDI soundsets for high quality music playback of ringtones, game soundtracks and effects, all without the need for intensive memory or MIPS which pcm-based audio solutions require.

Geared toward the needs of game developers, the solution offers a highly efficient MIDI Synthesizer accessible through the Android Java interface. It includes such features as:
